Hodge Podge

These next three posts are in the opposite order from what I intended them to be. I thought the newest post would go on top, but apparenly, if you post more than one in a day, it puts the newest on the bottom. Oh well. Anyways, I'm playing a bit of catch up since we got our computer set up, and in the next week or so, I'm going to post some of my favorite pictures from this year.

This is kind of a mix of pictures from this summer.

We saw this turkey near Oglesby on our way back from Missouri back in April. Arthur has a turkey ringtone on his phone, so he rolled down the window and played it. It was so funny, because the turkey really responded to the ring and couldn't figure out where the other turkey was coming from!

This was my VBS in June. Our theme was "Operation Space: A Close Encounter with God's Word." The astronaut there is a snow suit stuffed with batting, snow boots, ski gloves, a plastic breastplate, a doll head with long hair that you comb, and a motorcycle helmet. I love the way it turned out.

This was in July:

My cousin Luke's dog had puppies, and we are getting one for Danny. He loves animals, but I don't think he knew this was real until he pulled on it and it yelped. It kind of startled him, but he recovered and was still really interested in it.

During August camp, we went to see the puppy again.

He grabbed it around the neck and hugged it tight. He is such an animal lover and was so excited to hold a real live puppy. He makes kind of a grunting sound when he hugs people, and that is exactly what he did when he hugged this puppy. He is starting to say, "Awwww," instead of "Ugghhh!" when he hugs, but at this point, he was still grunting. :o)

So cute!

He didn't mind the puppy licking his hands or chewing on his fingers at all.

Getting "puppy kisses". He loved it!

Danny and Aunt Valerie.

Danny liked playing with his cousin, Lance.

Before we ever decided to move, we bought some land next to my mom and dad because it was a perfect location and already had utilities, and since we thought we'd like to move to the area and build a house there someday, we hated to pass the property up. Then Arthur's work kind of came grinding to a halt, so we had to move sooner than expected. We were glad then that we'd gone ahead and bought the property. I think the Lord just dropped it in our laps at just the right time. These are of our property. They were taken in June.

This is the house. We aren't moved in yet, but we're seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. This house was given to us, and it was obvious that there had been several LARGE dogs inside, because they'd left evidence of their presence in every room of the house. It needed a lot of work, but you can't beat free! Arthur's been working hard on it. With Arthur losing his job and Danny being born, we got a large tax return, and so far, that's all we've needed for supplies, so that has been a blessing.

The white window is a new one Arthur put in, and almost all the windows look like that now. He also put in new doors. It has vastly improved the appearance of the house. The big blue thing sitting there is a washer and dryer. I'm serious! The lady we bought the property from has a daughter and son-in-law who were living in a travel trailer in her back yard. They asked if they could stay for a few months after we bought the property. This is their washer and dryer. They have it hooked up outside and covered with a tarp, and once a week they carry their laundry out there and wash it. Really!

This is a little bird house the previous owner left behind where our house now sits. This is looking West into the woods. Mom and Dad's property is on the other side of the woods.
This open fields is just Northeast of where our house sits. This shot is looking North. I can imagine our kids playing here someday. We had originally thought we'd build in the field, but we may have changed our minds. Our house will be more visible from the road here than it would be in a different location, but we don't have to make a final decision for quite awhile, I'm sure. :o)

This is looking East. The driveway goes down a hill there where it disappears, and we own to the road. If you see the electric pole there, that's just on the other side of the road, I believe.

Looking South- The other side of this fence belongs to my parents. On the other side of that is the road, which isn't visible in the picture, but it is before you get to the hills in the background.

I zoomed in so you can see the cemetery. The big white building in the background is where Arthur works. It's farther away than it looks in the picture, but it is a very short drive, for which we are thankful. I'm not sure how far it is, but I'm guessing 5 miles as the crow flies. We own down to the road, which you can kind of see in this picture.

Looking South again.

This is looking back toward Mom and Dad's property (to our West). They own pretty much to the crest of that hill in the background. If you look closely, you can see our corner post, that pipe fence there.

This one is from our house. This is the view looking Southeast.

These were in July:

We went to Tennessee, and this is some of the crazy stuff we saw along the way.

This pyramid is in Memphis, TN. Get it? Memphis, Egypt/Memphis, TN

I have no idea why there was a Viking on this trailer, but it looked really cool!

We took these on our way to and from Ponca City where we went one Sunday to visit some good friends of Arthur's. We had such a great time with them. We also really enjoyed the scenery along the way.

I think this picture looks like a postcard with the open prairie and the perfectly white clouds in the sky.

Isn't Oklahoma beautiful?

It's kind of blurry, but I love how this windmill looks with the storm clouds all around.

The rest of these were taken this month.

Pawpaw almost beat him to sleep!

We are looking at new carseats for after he turns one. They had them bolted to the shelf, so we put him in this one to see how it worked. He thought that was hilarious. "Haai!" he said in his twangy little voice. You'd think from hearing him say hi that we are from Louisianna or something!

This picture is for Danny's Grandma Diane. She got him this shirt in Israel.

This was the last weekend the kiddie park was open, so we decided to go. Crazy! Arthur got Danny this hat at Bass Pro and got it autographed by some professional hunters that were there. I think he looks really cute in it. We had a really fun night. If you have kids and you've never been to the kiddie park, you should definitely check it out if you're ever in the area during the summer. It's good cheap fun for the little guys!

Thanks for looking!

I enjoyed all the pictures. Danny is growing up so fast. I can't wait to see pictures when your house is done.
Wish we lived closer to help you with it.

Jess, I meant to get on here long ago, but it kept slipping my mind. Thanks for the picture of Danny in the Israel outfit! I LOVED all the pictures, just wish we were closer so I could be better acquainted with the little sweetheart!
